What is Ukelele University:
We are a ukulele club that is about 2 1/2 years old, started by Stu Herreid in 2010, here in the Sacramento area. (Roseville, to be exact)

We meet twice each month:

1) Due to the size of our group, we meet the first Friday night of each month at 7:00, followed by the next  Saturday morning at 10:00 of each month at "The Strum Shop" in Roseville Square Shopping Center in Roseville  (see map below)

We do a beginners class on Saturdays  at 10:00, Jam starts at about 10:30 and goes till about 12:00/1:00 or whenever our fingers fall off...

Our goal is 4 fold:

1) Promote the playing of this fine little instrument we call the ukulele...

2) To see some groups form and eventually play out in the local community ...

3) Education: We will be bringing in the top talent in the ukulele world for all sorts of different Workshops (see Coming Events page)

4) HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!

How does this all work?:We have scored the 2 Santa Cruz
Ukulele Club Songbooks, and will be playing out of those.
You can download it here:

(You will need to print it out yourself, as it is 400 songs!)We will be playing some oldies, some contemporary, some classics, a little bit of everything. If you have any songs you would like to play, make some copies for the rest of us, and together we will make some beautiful music...

The cost:We suggest a donation of $5.00 per meeting, but nothing is required. This helps cover the cost of the chair  rental, as well as the website costs and other misc expenses, as well as buying Stu a well deserved Starbucks White Mocha after each meeting...

We value your input: Being as this is a brand new venture, we are open to idea's and suggestions. If you have been involved in a musical club of some kind, and wish to share your positives and negatives with us, please use this email address and let us know of your experiences: stuherreid@yahoo.com
Please put Ukelele Club in the subject line so it will get read. (I get a LOT of spam...)

We are starting this club to be FUN! And that means:no politics, no attitudes, and especially, no ego's allowed.  All members will be asked to come expecting to contribute to the overall goals of the club. Policies and procedures will be changed and improved as they are deemed nessasary.  In a nut shell, common sense will be the prevailing theme of this club... Kapesh?

One Last Thing:We know the correct way to spell Ukelele is: UKULELE, (with a "U", not an "E",but
UKULELEUNIVERSITY.com was taken, so we had to use the"other" spelling: UKELELE.
(get over it...)

About Stu
My name is Stu Herreid, and I am the unofficial "Dean" of UKElele
University.I teach Ukulele,5 String Banjo, Mandolin, Guitar, and Bass
full time here in Roseville area.

my personal website:        www.ukulelestu.com

I am 56 years young, and  have been playing for years, and  recently, I was  bit by the ukulele bug! I can't get enough of them... I own 10 + uke's, and have just bought the new Anuenue Harp Ukulele...

My hope is that this Ukulele University explodes and we have more Ukulele
players than we know what to do with. All types of Ukulele's are accepted and encouraged: baritone, tenor, soprano, concert, resonator, banjo ukes, even slide ukes! The more, the merrier.

Kala is one of our supporters.
 We highly recommend their ukuleles...
